Dori Ellowitch, LMSW: Psychotherapist in Manhattan and Brooklyn

Who Dori works with

Dori sees individuals and couples. Some come after a loss, for grief work. Others come for trauma, including trauma from close relationships.

Dori shapes her approach to how ADHD shows up differently in men and women. In sessions, she and her client look at the patterns that keep the client stuck. Together they work out practical ways to manage ADHD, such as handling strong feelings and planning and finishing tasks.

ADHD

Dori spent more than 15 years in marketing and corporate leadership before she became a psychotherapist. That experience helps her understand high-performing professionals who are balancing ambition with their emotional well-being.

High-performing professionals

Dori aims for each session to feel like a natural conversation. She looks at where a pattern started, often in earlier relationships, and how it shapes life now. She also notices what happens in the body, such as a tight chest or a racing heart, and works with that too.

When talking about a pattern isn't enough to change it, Dori brings in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). She offers it on its own or alongside her ongoing talk and body-based work.
